The Home Efficiency Rebate Plus program, delivered in partnership with the Canada Greener Homes Grant is not accepting any new applicants effective Monday, February 5th, 2024.
Any pre-retrofit energy assessments completed after Monday, February 5th, 2024 will not be accepted into the program. Please note that the Canada Greener Homes Loan remains open and requires a pre-retrofit evaluation in order to apply.
This date does not apply to everyone who is already in the program: if you have already had your first energy evaluation you still have time to have your follow-up. To book your follow-up evaluation, please email info@environmentnetwork.org

HOME EFFICIENCY REBATE PLUS
Ontarians can take advantage of up to $10,600 in energy efficiency rebates through the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) program.
Residents of Ontario are now eligible for:

How to Participate in Home Efficiency Rebate Plus
GET STARTED WITH A PRE-RETROFIT ENERGY AUDIT
Home Efficiency Rebate Plus, or HER+, is a collaborative rebate program from Enbridge Gas and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) combining their Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) and the Canada’s Greener Homes Grant (CGHG) programs.
The new Home Efficiency Rebate Plus/HER+ program has new eligibility criteria — you might be eligible for rebates that you did not qualify for in the HER or CGHG programs, like heat-pump rebates for Enbridge customers living in rental properties.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR HOME EFFICIENCY REBATE PLUS

Homes and cottages serviced by Enbridge Gas.

Primary residences where the homeowner IS NOT a customer of Enbridge Gas.

Rental properties where tenant or landlord is an Enbridge Gas customer.

Off-grid communities living in a permanent or long-term (5 years or more) settlement with at least 10 dwellings.

Owners of some multi-unit residential buildings.
WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE

Homes that are not the owners’ primary residence and do not have an active Enbridge Gas account.

Multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs) with more than 3 storeys or larger than 600 m2.

Cooperatives.

Homes built less than 6 months ago.

Mixed use buildings that are less than 50% residential.
Home Energy Audit

Rebate to cover a portion of the cost to have a registered energy advisor visit your home to conduct an evaluation.
Air Sealing
Up to $1,300
Perform air sealing to improve the air-tightness of your home to achieve the air-change rate target.
Smart Thermostat
Up to $125
Upgrade to a smart thermostat to help improve your comfort and save money on your energy bill.
Space and Water Heating
Up to $7,800
ENERGY STAR®-certified hot water heat pumps use up to 70 percent less energy. Ground source, air source and domestic hot water heat pumps qualify.
Weatherproofing
Up to $1,625
Protect your home from climate change-driven extreme weather events like flooding or power outages.
Windows and Doors
Up to $325 for each
Replace your windows or glass doors with ENERGY STAR® certified models
Home Insulation
Up to $10,000
Update your eligible attic/ceiling, exterior wall, exposed floor, basement or foundation, and crawlspaces by adding insulation.
Solar Panels
Up to $5,000
Install photovoltaic solar panels to convert energy from sunlight into electricity.

How Much Does an Energy Evaluation Cost?
Initial evaluation: $500
Follow-up evaluation: $200
If you are eligible for an incentive program, the program will refund you $600 to go towards the cost of the audits.
Additional Fees May Apply for Parts of Grey-Bruce County.
An additional square footage fee is charged for homes larger than 3,000 square feet:
3000 – 3499 sq ft: $50.00
3500 – 4499 sq ft: $75.00
4500 – 5499 sq ft: $125.00
5500 – 6499 sq ft: $175.00
6500 sq ft +: $250.00
